HEARTBREAKS DON’T TAKE A HOLIDAY

“I started writing ‘Another Silent Night’ completely unexpectedly,” says Dave. “I remember looking at my wife, Mara, and thinking how lucky I was. Then, I had this awful thought of ‘What if I didn’t have her? What would that feel like?’ I got sad, which I almost never get. I ran upstairs, grabbed my guitar and molded that feeling into this song. Soon after, I played it for my buddy, Deryl Dodd, over the phone. Deryl’s great! He offered some suggestions and after a few days, the song screamed at us, ‘Record me!’ So, we did.

I’ve always absolutely loved traditional country music. When I was a kid, my father and I would spend just as many hours listening to old 8-tracks of Merle Haggard and George Jones as we would Ramon Ayala and Vicente Fernandez. (My older brother, Albert, taught me how to love Pink Floyd and the Stones …but that’s for another single.)”

Born and raised in Grand Prairie, TX, Dave joined the Marines right out of high school. He then worked 4 years with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department before finding a way to express his love for country music with the use of an instrument that had been more associated with Mexican and European folk music …the accordion. He helped form the Tejas Brothers in 2006, a band well known for their down-to-earth approach to showcasing a signature variety of Country, Blues, Rock and Tex-Mex influenced songs.

Although still the frontman for the Tejas Brothers, this is Dave’s first-ever solo release. It’s also the first Tejas Brothers-associated radio single in almost a decade!
